There are so many of you who have watched our journey, starting out as 16 year old high school kids, figuring life out and being best friends who turned into lovers. So this post is dedicated to all of the people who have supported our love since day 1 and all the people who want to know the story, too. When Vic finally asked me to marry him, there were a lot of “finally” and “it’s about damn time” comments. Just so you all know, that’s exactly what I said to him lol.
We went to South America for Vic’s 25th birthday and we were obviously ecstatic. The little thing I wasn’t aware of was that he was planning on popping the question on our trip. We were planning on doing a major hike in the Chilean Patagonia called Mirador Las Torres, so he decided to find us a photographer for the day.
Vic’s idea was that our photographer, Timothy (@timothydhalleine), would help us get blog content and also take pictures of us since it’d be such an accomplishment to finish this hike. Naturally, I thought this was a great idea and I had no second thoughts about his plan.
After about 4.5 hours of hiking and nearly limping from knee pain that I’d never experienced before, we finally made it to the top. I almost thought I wasn’t going to make it because of the knee pain, but it was worth the struggle! To say this place is breathtaking is an understatement.
As I was taking my knee wraps off and preparing for iconic photos, I didn’t realize Victor was digging in our backpack and grabbing the ring. Timothy was getting ready for our photos and there was an emphasis on hurrying before the major crowds arrived.
We finally get on top of this slanted boulder and Victor was taking his sweet time to turn around to take pictures with me. I was standing there confused like “Victor? Turn around he’s waiting”. I nearly passed out as he turns and immediately gets on one knee. My heart sank to my ass and my heart started racing! The small crowd of people around us started clapping and taking pictures as I took in the beautiful moment.
I said yes!
I’m sitting here laughing as I write this because he was so nervous that no words came out of his mouth. He just looked at me and smiled, flashing that beautiful ring at me. His little tomato face was finally like “oh yeah, will you marry me?!” and we laughed our asses off. That was the easiest “yes” ever.
After our love fest in the Chilean Patagonia, we flew out to Buenos Aires, Argentina to celebrate our new journey.
